Starting base salary range is $90,000-$105,000. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience. Full benefits are available and this position is also eligible for the staff level bonus program.

Position Summary:
AVIXA (Audiovisual & Integrated Experience Association) is seeking a dynamic teacher and AV tech guru to join our educational team. The Instructor/Technical Advisor will regularly teach AVIXA courses around AV topics to adult learners, as well as act as an internal technical expert on content AVIXA creates for an AV audience.
AVIXA is THE trade association and professional society serving the audiovisual industry worldwide. In a time where the way that we communicate has undergone such a notable evolution, and supporting technology has accelerated in response, AV is booming, and we’re here to help reflect, explain, grow, grow with, and change it.

What will you do?
Teach AVIXA’s core courses from AV Install, Design, Project Management, and Networking technologies.
Instruct learners from all over the globe via virtual course delivery, and in-person classroom delivery at locations in the US and overseas.
Be the SME (Subject Matter Expert). Work closely with the instructional designers and curriculum developers to vet educational content created by them; ensure accuracy and alignment with industry standards while providing technical information and industry insights.
Team up with editorial, video, social, and marketing non-technical staff to provide industry insight into the growing areas of AV and AV/IT. Demystify current industry trends or hot topics to get at the “why is it important” question, then tie those topics to deeper technical explanations or resources.
Be a trusted voice in the industry. Create and deliver smaller technical presentations on behalf of AVIXA at industry events. Draft technical content for articles whitepapers, and presentations.
Engage with the Industry by making social media posts to Xchange and other forums.
How you’ll make an impact:
You’ll be a catalyst for continually improving AVIXA’s AV content, working shoulder-to-shoulder with our Curriculum Development team as industry experts and technical advisors for them. Wider than that, you’ll be consulted regularly on AVIXA’s approach to the AV audience in general and how best to serve this new segment with written content, video, events, etc. Essentially, you’ll be the “go-to” for AVIXA as we shape this together. All the while, you’ll get to regularly travel and teach individuals coming up through the industry, providing them with keys to advance their career. The industry is close-knit, so it’s common to meet these same students at industry events over the years and get to see first-hand how they flourish, building from the education you provide.

Deep current AV knowledge of new products, tech, and practice in the AV industry
Excellent teaching and presentation skills
CTS required
CTS-I and CTS-D level-knowledge required at starting and will achieve I and D certification within a year of hire
Ability and experience reviewing educational and industry content for accuracy before publication
Strong team player with a desire to help everyone learn and develop their AV expertise
Strong customer service ethic
Familiarity with common virtual presentation platforms including Zoom and Teams
Able to adapt content to an audience, or teach effectively in multiple cultures/settings, as well as virtually or in person
Ability to travel, up to 25%, including international travel
Experience Level: Minimum of 5 years as a designer, project manager or technical manager in the audiovisual industry is required. Networking technical experience is required. Prior teaching and presenting experience preferred. Must be comfortable with public speaking. Experience with providing subject matter expertise to instructional designers and curriculum developers a plus.
Certifications: Must be CTS Certified with the ability to become CTS-I and CTS-D certified within a year. Various Networking certifications (CompTIA, Cisco, etc.) a plus.
Technical Skills: Command of CTS-I and CTS-D level knowledge of audiovisual technology and current and relevant AV and IT networking technology is required. A proven ability to perform typical AV installation, design and project management activities is required. Proven proficiency as a technical writer, editor, preferred.
Other skills: Excellent written and verbal communications, plus public speaking skills are required. Proficiency in typical office productivity and technical design tools like Microsoft Office, Visio and AutoCAD LT are highly regarded. Social media presence and proficiency is a plus. Strong time management skills needed, and ability to work collaboratively with other functions and departments from a remote office is necessary.
