Responsible for the functional management of an electric machines engineering department. Responsibilities include engineering process, requirements definition, electric machines and cable design, implementation, design verification, test, and release to manufacturing. Integral to these functions is the responsibility for developing a highly capable, motivated electric machines development team. Must function as a key member of an intra-Business product development team, participating in the creation and execution of product development and delivery strategies. This position is responsible for the direct management of 8 - 10 electric machine/cable developers and technicians. This position will have responsibility for a department budget up to $2,000,000.
Recruit, develop, review, and administer salary for electric machines department personnel. Good technical competence in the field of PM servo motor design and manufacturing processes. Establish and maintain budgets, product development plans, schedules and procedures required to accomplish department and business objectives. Work with peer managers to develop, implement and continuously improve development processes, ensuring quality products delivered in a timely, predictable manner. Keep up to date on electric machine & associated technologies. Promote the incorporation of relevant technologies into products and/or manufacturing processes. Support industry standards activities as they relate to specific business opportunities.

Work with Strategic and Product Marketing to formulate plans for product development in response to customer feedback, competitive directions and technology trends. Assist Commercial and Product Marketing with interface to Sales, distributors, and customers to ensuring uniform representation of current products and future directions. Responsible for reviewing project process with business management and occasionally senior management. Plays key role in development of business and marketing strategies to optimize the performance of new and existing product lines.
