Job Objective: The Technical Sales Representative works closely with the Product Sales Manager and sales team to increase the product portfolio and assist with tackling key projects and opportunities including “pre-sourcing”. This position requires market research to verify product specifications and refine vendor sourcing strategies. This role will also assist with product positioning for marketing and sales.
Responsibilities: • Analyzes bills of material for the best vendor cross reference selections, pricing and project registration. The Technical Sales Representative works closely with the sales reps involved and the Product Sales Manager to turn around bids as quickly and accurately as possible. • Responds to technical product customer inquiries and requests fielded. • Maintains product and category records in the ERP system and assists with updating the website and print catalog product records. • Maintains Hazardous Material tracking in the ERP system and works with the logistics team to support accurate shipping and handling processes. • Assists with in-house product sales training for outside reps and inside reps. • Assists with vendor day activities, as well as trade show events, to help coordinate product samples, displays, placement and logistics. • Creating and obtaining product samples including mock ups of network closures, cable tube samples, and other related products. • Attends vendor and industry training to further increase product knowledge and market strategy. • Participates in meetings with suppliers and rep firms to stay informed of industry and product trends. • Connects with product management at suppliers to stay on the cutting edge of product trends and changes.

Education and Experience
Required: • Bachelor’s degree in related field • 4+ Years of Technical or Sales experience in the telecommunications industry • In-depth knowledge of passive optical networking components with a balance of inside and outside plant exposure • Experience in ICT and BICSI • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications including Microsoft products
Desired: • Knowledge of optical networking equipment and configurations • Knowledge of fiber splicing, termination and connectivity • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications including Adobe suite, Photoshop and InDesign
