Cox Communications, Inc. is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist - Internal Communications who is responsible for building and maintaining positive image with employees and on occasion media outlets.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Creates, writes and edits various communications tools, including printed and online publications, intranet communications, employee meetings and events, videos and announcements that foster open communication throughout the organization.
Provides supervisors and other managers with appropriate messages, tools and training to help them be effective communicators.
Evaluates and implements improvement strategies for internal communications.
Assists with programs that improve employees' competitive understanding and readiness.
Supports employee involvement in company sponsored internal and external outreach events and community volunteering by collaborating with Community Relations team.
Maintains information on myAXis, myHR, QuickClix and various social media vehicles for the employee audience.
Manages employee incentives, contests, ticket distributions, contests and other engagement activities.
Participates in region’s business continuity structure by providing internal communications during business impacting events, such as inclement weather.
Assists with writing speeches, press releases and position papers on issues, and develops messaging statements.
May participate in activities that promote company visibility, build a strong company image, and increase public awareness and consumer propensity to do business with Cox.
Supports various additional internal communications areas and initiatives, which may involve partnering across functions, across regional operations, with national headquarters and on various special projects.
2 or more years of experience required in related field (i.e. Communications, Public Relations, etc.)
Must have very strong written, oral communications and copyediting skills, and the ability to demonstrate those during the interview process.
Must have some knowledge and understanding of social media platforms.
Must be able to work in a changing environment. Preferred
BS/BA in related discipline strongly desired (i.e. Communications, Journalism, etc.).
Strongly prefer familiarity with the use of technology for internal communications, including employee intranets, collaborative networks and other electronic tools and must consider consistently the best utility for each.
Experience in telecommunications industry desired
Agency and previous corporate experience working in a similar capacity are a plus.
